BIOGRAPHIE DE FREDERIK GRAN

Compositeur

Fredrik Gran est né à Stockholm en Suède. Il possède un baccalauréat et une maîtrise en composition de l’académie Royal Academy of Music à Stockholm. Il écrit de la musique orchestrale, de chambre, vocale, électroacoustique et électronique en direct.
Il a aussi fait d’autres études y compris la musicologie à l’Université de Stockholm, et des études en composition musicale à l’Académie de la Musique et du Drame à Gothenbourg et à L'École de Composition Musicale de Gotland à Visby. Entre autre, Fredrik a étudié avec Åke Parmerud, Sven-David Sandström, William Brunson, Henrik Strindberg et Jesper Nordin. Il a également pris part à des master-class menés par Natasha Barret, Esa-Pekka Salonen, John Oswald, Trevor Wishart et le Choeur de la Radio suédoise.
Les compositions musicales de Fredrik ont été présentées en Amérique, en Europe et en Asie au SICMF à Seoul, au ICMC à Belfast, au PBSE à Tokyo, au TNM à Weimar, au Vilnius Festival Duskomanija, au Brighton Soundwawe Festival, au Sound of Stockhold Festival et à la série de concerts Tank à New York, pour en nommer quelques-uns.
Fredrik a déjà écrit de la musique pour KammarensembleN, Musica Vitae, The Pearls Before Sweine Experience, Stockholm Symphonic Wind Orchestra, violoncellist Émilie Girard-Charest ainsi que l’Ensemble Arkea.
Fredrik est membre du Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche en Musique, Médias et Technologie (CIRMMT), de l’association International Computer Music Association (ICMA), de l’Elektronmusikstudion (EMS), la Société des compositeurs suédois (FST) et de Fylkingen.
Fredrik a aussi servis comme membre du conseil administratif de la société Society for Electroacoustic Music in Sweden (SEAMS) et est le co-fondateur de Klubb Ambush (nouvel arrangement musical).
Fredrik est présentement un candidat au doctorat en composition musicale à l’Université McGill sous la supervision de Philippe Leroux et Sean Ferguson.


Fredrik Gran was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in composition from the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. Fredrik currently resides in Montréal, Canada, where he is a doctoral candidate in composition at McGill University, under the guidance of Philippe Leroux and Sean Ferguson. Earlier studies include Musicology at the University of Stockholm, and composition studies at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenbourg and at the Gotland School of Music Composition in Visby. Among his teachers is Ole Lützow-Holm, Sven-David Sandström, William Brunson, Henrik Strindberg and Jesper Nordin. He has attended master classes with Natasha Barret, Esa-Pekka Salonen, John Oswald, and the Swedish Radio Choire. Fredrik writes orchestral, chamber, vocal, electroacoustic and live electronic music. Fredriks compositions has been performed in the Americas, Europe and Asia, for example, at the SICMF in Seoul, ICMC in Belfast, PBSE in Tokyo, TNM in Weimar, Vilnius Festival Duskomanija , Brighton Soundwawe festival, Sound of Stockholm Festival and the Tank concert series in New York. Fredrik has written music for, among others, KammarensembleN, Musica Vitae, The Pearls Before Sweine Experience, Stockholm Symphonic Wind Orchestra, cellist Emilie Girard- Charest and the McGill Contemporary Music Ensemble. Recently his piece portmanteau morphemes was awarded First Prize in codes d’acces Acces Arkea string orchestra competition and the CD an hour and ha half (electroacoustic works, Pink Pamphlet recordings) was nominated for the Swedish Art Music Prize (Nutida Musik). Fredrik is a member of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (CIRMMT), International Computer Music Association (ICMA), Elektronmusikstudion (EMS), the Society of Swedish Composers (FST) and Fylkingen. Fredrik is a previous board member of the Society for Elecroacoustic Music in Sweden (SEAMS) and cofounder of Klubb Ambush (new music arranger).
