Né(e) le 30/11/1959 Mexico CompositriceAna Lara étudie le piano avec Leopoldo González et la voix avec Charles Laila et Rosa Rimoch de 1979 à 1986. Elle étudie la composition au Conservatoire National de Musique de Mexico avec Daniel Catán et Mario Lavista puis avec Wlodzimierz Kotonski et Zbigniew Rudzinski à l'Académie de musique de Varsovie dans le cadre d'une bourse d'étude mexicano-polonaise en 1986 à 1989.
De 2004 à 2004, elle étudie l'ethnologie à l'Université de Maryland où elle obtient son master.
Elle a reçu plusieurs distinctions : du Mexican Ministry of Culture (Sistema Nacional de Creadores), the USA/Canada/Mexico Creative Artists’ Residency Program Grant (1997), et the Bellagio Artistic Residency (2000).
Elle a suivi une résidence de compositeur au National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico en 1993-94.
En 1998, elle fonde le Festival Internacional Música y Escena
qu'elle dirige depuis. Ce festival a obtenu the annual Award of the
Mexican Union of Critics of Theater and Music (2001). Ana Lara a produit
un programme à University Radio (Radio UNAM) consacrée à la musique
contemporaine depuis 1990 (Hacia una nueva música) et entre 2007 et 2009
elle coordonne the Contemporary Music Program au Festival Internacional
Cervantino.
En 2016, elle est nommée directrice de l'Institut culturel du Mexique en France
